The 27 ft. aluminum ketch FOX was under construction in Richard Cushing's shed at Cushing, Maine, on April 9, 1978. Irving designed this boat after an 1891 Gloucester sailing dory with modifications for use under sail or power by a small Volvo Penta diesel engine.
