Richard Irving, boat builder in Cushing, Maine, is pictured April 18, 1978 in FOX, a 27 ft. aluminum ketch-rigged sailing dory he had just launched at the Knight Marina, Rockland Harbor, Maine. On the dock behind him is one of his aluminum dingys. These were his main product between larger custom orders. Irving designed this boat after an 1891 Gloucester sailing dory with modifications for use under sail or power by a small Volvo Penta diesel engine.
