[included in the exhibit "Working Waterfronts"] USCGC KICKAPOO WAGL-56 LB2008.15.381 Launched as the United States Shipping Board's ocean going tugboat BALDRIDGE in 1919, KICKAPOO was transferred to the Coast Guard in 1921. First assigned to Buzzard's Bay, she was modified to serve as an icebreaker in 1926 and was transferred to Rockland, where she was a welcome sight to ice bound harbors. She was reassigned to Buzzards Bay during World War II, never to return. Further up Tillson's wharf is a nest of fishing boats, ranging from lobsterboats to dory trawlers and sardine carrier. KICKAPOO is alongside the fish plant. M. Elmer Montgomery Collection LB2008.15.381
