Friendship sloop grounded out

From collection Elmer Montgomery Collection

Friendship sloop grounded out

Unidentified Friendship sloop high and dry alongside wharf. The wharf is just south of Rockland’s public landing where the Rackliff & Whitham lobster plant was later built. The building in back of the sloop’s mast was part of the Wincapaw seaplane operation and was later purchased by Ernest Edwards (Edwards Ice Cream) and moved to Crescent Beach where it served as his cottage. Beyond the still-existing public landing wharf is McLoon’s lobster plant and beyond that, Tillson’s Wharf.
