New York (Manhatten) Post Office built about 1873 with Dix Island granite. Eagles on large roof sevtions were carved by Rackliff crew at Dix Island. Building cost $8,549,932.62 on a cost plus 15% contract, was torn down about 1938. Note: Dix Island and others of the Muscle Ridge group off St. George were once part of Muscle Ridge Township, which was deorganized many years ago
