Wharf scene before April 1945 at Snow Shipyard, Rockland, Maine. At left is U.S.S. EAGLE BOAT 56 (PE-56), which was sunk by a U-853 off Portland on April 23, 1945 while towing targets for bombers from the Brunswick Naval Air Station. Two 1944 Newbert & Wallace draggers are at extreme right (ETHEL C.) and in foreground (EUGENE H.) In center of nest is USS YP-547, a parol boat convertyed fron a civilian hull, and against pier is dragger ST. GEORGE, which was built in the Snow yard, and is noted as 'in from Greenland for refit to go fishing'. Vessel had been taken over by Coast Guard as WYP-171, served on the Greenland Patrol, and was returned to owners, hence name daubed on bow. notes: 1 of 4 images adhered to 1 backer board (LB2013.21.1519 - 1522), see "The Main Beam" by Bertram G.
