Medium distance view of Saddleback Ledge Light, Maine, located on an islet lying between Isle au Haut and Vinalhaven, in the middle of the southeastern entrance to Penobscot Bay. This view from the water shows a hilly ledge with a small two story keeper's house next to the light tower. It is propped up with timbers on both visible sides. A large doorway on the end leads to the water via a ramp. The lighthouse and an adjoining open fog bell tower are behind this building. The station was established iin 1839. The original light tower, designed by Alexander Parris, still stands. Saddleback Ledge Light was automated in in 1954; and the attached building was removed.
