The IDA MAE (outboard) and EVA GRACE (nearest the dock) were sardine carriers owned by the Stinson Canning Co. of Prospect Harbor ME. The 60' EVA GRACE, built in 1930 in East Machias, Maine was registered as 60 feet in length with a 15 foot beam,รถ could carry approximately 57.46 hogsheads. The 64.2' IDA MAE could carry approximately 88.36 hogsheads. The IDA MAE was turned into a mussel dragger, she was also used to carry shrimp. The boat eventually returned to carrying sardines and was still in operation as of January 2011. During the 1960s and 1970s herring were salted on board. After that, government regulations required them to be iced. Most people apparently preferred the salted fish, as the taste seemed better. The IDA MAE could carry around 81 hogsheads of herring, or approximately fifty tons.
