Ruohomaa shoots from a slightly elevated angle to take in the dynamics and pattern of the dance. His use of extra lighting dramatizes the image and highlights the couples' competence as they lean their backs slightly into each other.
In this improvised dance hall Kosti finds his preferred subject matter: the folkways of ordinary people at work and, as here, at play.
