Square Dancing 8
In this image a group of square dancers brace their hands with their partners during a beginners' class in a small room.
Ruohomaa focusses on how the participants' interplay reflects the process of learning and the sometimes awkward and unfamiliar proximity of neighbors and strangers. In this improvised dance hall Kosti finds his preferred subject matter: the folkways of ordinary people at work and as here, at play.
