Grain Bins, Grain Elevator, Rail Car Viewed from the Harbor

This color image shows one of the prominent features of the industrial waterfront of Belfast, Maine which was the bulk feed grain elevator, built at the foot of Main Street in 1965, and was used by Maplewood Poultry Company. Rail cars filled the structure up with grains, vitamins, minerals and other supplements and trucks transported the feed to poultry growers throughout Waldo County. It was demolished in 1984. In the foreground is a large cylindrical grain storage bin. In the background is the concrete grain elevator building with a partially obscured grain bin at the side of the elevator building. In the foreground is a large cylindrical grain storage bin. In the background is the concrete grain elevator building with an 8 x 8 x 40' 60 ton grain bin on the side of the elevator building. Also seen is bulk railroad car which delivered the grain, et al to the grain elevator.
