Tug and Six-Masters

Tug and Six-Masters

Firstly, none of vessels has a decipherable name board. That said, in the foreground, we have a steam-powered tugboat with two six-masted schooners, somewhat of a rarity, in the background. By 1910, only 10 six-masted schooners had been built in Bath, Maine and in towns on Penobscot Bay. Therefore, these are two of the folowing:

George W. Wells       Camden   1900
Eleanor A. Percy        Bath         1900
Addie M. Lawrence   Bath         1903
William L. Douglas    Quincy     1903
Alice M. Lawrence     Bath         1904
Ruth E. Merrill           Bath         1904
Edward B. Winslow   Bath         1906
Mertie B. Crowley     Rockland  1907
Edward J. Lawrence  Bath          1908
Wyoming                  Bath          1909
